Aguascalientes Approves 2025 Economic Package with Increases in Security, Education, and Health
In a parliamentary session marked by debate, the State Congress approved the 2025 economic package with 20 votes in favor and 6 against. The financial plan, presented by Governor Tere Jiménez Esquivel, reflects a 6% increase compared to the previous year, setting the state budget at $34,850,789,000.00. It highlights priorities such as security, education, and health.
Congressman Luis León, president of the Oversight Committee, emphasized the increases in key areas. The Public Security Secretariat will receive 25.25% more, equivalent to an additional $380,323,638.49, while in education, institutions like the Metropolitan Technological University of Aguascalientes will see increases of up to 46.51%. The health sector also benefits from an increase of $179,035,163.64 to strengthen ISSEA services.
Meanwhile, municipalities such as San Francisco de los Romo and San José de Gracia will be the most favored by federal contributions, with increases of 45.46% and 27.82%, respectively.
The session also included reforms to the Social Security and Services Law, presented by congresswomen Mirna Medina and Arlette Muñoz. These aim to guarantee affiliations, economic benefits, health promotion, and job security for public servants and their families.
Finally, constitutional amendments were approved to promote safe environments and strengthen the Judiciary, aiming to improve its efficiency and proximity to citizens.
