During a public event in Durango, Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo affirmed that June 1st will mark the Day of Democracy, as the Mexican people will elect judges, magistrates, and ministers of the Judicial Branch.<\/p>\n
“Now, by decision of the people of Mexico, and as the only country in the world setting an example for the rest of the planet, we Mexicans will elect judges, magistrates, and Supreme Court justices. Do not forget, June 1st is a very important day \u2013 it is the Day of Democracy,” Sheinbaum stated.<\/p>\n
The announcement took place during the Mujeres Bienestar Pension Program<\/strong> event, where Sheinbaum reiterated her commitment to national sovereignty. She emphasized that Mexico remains a free, independent, and democratic country, continuously striving for justice.<\/p>\n “Now that we are experiencing such special moments in our country, we must say loud and clear, so that it resonates in Guadalupe Victoria, throughout Durango, all of Mexico, and the entire world: Mexico is a free, independent, sovereign, democratic country that seeks greater justice every day,” she declared.<\/p>\n Sheinbaum also highlighted her administration\u2019s initiative to revive bean production in Durango, Zacatecas, and Nayarit.<\/p>\n “For many years, and due to the droughts we have faced, bean production in Mexico has significantly decreased. Currently, we import around 300,000 tons of beans annually. We want to stop importing and instead support small farmers so they can produce more beans. This year, the guaranteed price was set at 27 pesos per kilogram, which is very important. Additionally, we will work together to implement a program across three states\u2014Zacatecas, Durango, and Nayarit\u2014to restore them as major bean producers and reduce our dependency on foreign imports,” she announced.<\/p>\n During the event, Efra\u00edn Morales L\u00f3pez<\/strong>, director of the National Water Commission (Conagua), announced that the Guadalupe Victoria Dam<\/strong> will be inaugurated on March 25th.
